Mystery Shopper Bowling Sensation
17th September 2005
A sensational double
strike from former Sports centre-half Phil 'Mystery Shopper' Allen saw Team 3
home to victory in a climactic end to the annual Pannal Sports Ten Pin Bowling
Night. Allen recovered well from the early shock of seeing half of his Pannal
School pupils enjoying their Saturday nights out before sending down a double
strike to beat Greg Darcy of Team 2 with the last ball of the night. Roared on
by an expectant gallery and with his army fans urging him on to victory singing
his now legendary "Mystery Shopper" song, Allen replied to a Darcy strike with
a double whammy, which sparked jubilant celebrations down the aisles and a £50
pay day. Earlier Team 1 had won the first of the £50 prize money with some
excellent bowling from Messers Baren, Swales, Taylor, Middleton & Goodhall.
The main shock of the evening came when Roger Thomson's team came second twice.
A good night had by all!
